Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy: India vs England Test Series begins, Sachin gives prediction, Pujara trolls Vaughan
For the first time, a Test series between India and England is being played under the name Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The first match started on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. This five match Test series will continue till August 4 and the final game will be played at Kia Oval in London.
Earlier, the series between India and England in England was called the Pataudi Trophy. But now the England and Wales Cricket Board has renamed it to Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy to honour batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and pace legend James Anderson.
India begins a new phase with a new captain

This time India has entered a new phase in Test cricket. Shubman Gill has become the new Test captain because Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin have retired from the format. The Indian squad has many new faces who want to prove themselves in England’s tough conditions.
Sachin Tendulkar predicts India will win

While speaking to media, Sachin Tendulkar confidently predicted that India will win the series with a 3-1 margin. He said, “I have picked 3-1 in favour of India.”
Sachin also recalled the 2007 series when India had defeated England under Rahul Dravid’s captaincy. He was also part of that winning team.
He said, “That win was a wonderful moment. I still remember the celebrations in the Oval dressing room. These kinds of moments stay with you forever. I hope we can do something like that in this series too, so we can remember it 20 years from now.”
How has India’s Test record in England been so far
India has won a Test series in England only three times till now in 1971, 1986 and 2007. Out of 67 Test matches in England, India has won only 9 and lost 36. India’s overall Test record in England is weak but the current team looks ready to write something new.
Michael Vaughan’s tweet and Pujara’s perfect troll moment

Just before the match, there was a light moment on live TV when Cheteshwar Pujara gifted Michael Vaughan a photo frame. The frame had Vaughan’s 2020 tweet where he had predicted that India would lose 4-0 to Australia.
Pujara asked Vaughan to sign the frame. Vaughan smiled awkwardly and signed it while Pujara and Sunil Gavaskar laughed. This funny moment became viral among fans.
Back then, after India was bowled out for 36 in Adelaide and Virat Kohli flew back home, many people thought India would lose badly. But the team made a huge comeback.
India won in Melbourne under Ajinkya Rahane, drew in Sydney thanks to the grit of Hanuma Vihari and Ravichandran Ashwin, and finally won at the Gabba to seal the series 2-1.
Pujara, Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah played key roles in that victory. Even with so many injuries and no top players, India defeated a full-strength Australian team in their own backyard.
Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy could be a historic new chapter
The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy marks the start of a fresh chapter. Sachin Tendulkar’s belief, Shubman Gill’s passion and the hunger of new players can make this series memorable.
Now the question is, will India turn Sachin’s 3-1 prediction into reality or will England use their home conditions to win. The first Test has already started and the whole world is watching to see who will become the first ever winner of this new trophy.
