Malaysia is set to host two premier squash tournaments in June marking a history in its cultural landscape.
The Asian Individual Squash Championships and Asian Doubles Squash Championships will take place in Sarawak under the Asian Squash Federation (ASF).
The Asian Individual Squash Championships will run from June 17 to 27, followed by the Asian Doubles Championships from June 23 to 26, 2025.
The event will be held at the Sarawak Squash Centre in Petra Jaya.
The Asian Individual Squash Championships was first held in 1981. It is held every two years. This is the 23rd edition of the competition.
A total of 17 players from 16 countries are expected to compete in the individual events, with eight countries confirmed for the doubles category.
The competing nations are Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, China, Iran, Kuwait, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Iraq, and Macao.
On the men’s side, home gown defending champion Ng Eain Yow (World No. 11) and Qatar’s Abdullah Al-Tamimi (World No. 24) are set to headline the field.
In the women’s competition, Satomi Watanabe of Japan (World No. 9) and Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam (World No. 8) are among the leading women players scheduled to compete.

Malaysia and Pakistan are the most successful nations at the men’s Asian Individual Squash Championships. Both the countries have won nine titles each.
In the women’s competition, Malaysia has the most number of individual titles at 10, out of which nine were won by Nicol David.
It is safe to say that Malaysian athletes have dominated the tournament in its history. This edition, too, they will be looking to continue their dominance.
The championships are jointly organised by the Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia (SRAM) and the Squash Racquets Association of Sarawak (SRAS), and sanctioned by the Asian Squash Federation.
