The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 semi-final 1 match between Australia Women (AUS-W) and India Women (IND-W) will take place at Newlands in Cape Town on February 23, and the winner will advance to the final. Five-time T20 World Cup champions Australia won all four of their group stage contests to take first place in Group 1. In order to boost morale even more before the semi-final, they defeated South Africa by six wickets and Sri Lanka by 102 runs in their final two games.
In their final group-stage encounter, India Women defeated Ireland by five runs using the DLS system to get to the semifinals. Smriti Mandhana’s 87-run innings, a career-high, assisted India in batting first and scoring 155 runs. Ireland did, however, score 54/2 in 8.2 overs to put the Indian squad at bay, but the weather ultimately gave India the victory.
India will be seeking retribution after losing to Australia in the tournament’s previous final in 2020. Yet with impressive head-to-head records versus India, the Australian side is the clear favourite. They defeated India in the away T20I series in December 2022 by a score of 1-4, and they will be going for their sixth T20 World Cup victory.
