Ayush Badoni, captain of the South Delhi Superstarz, delivered a stunning performance in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 match against North Delhi Strikers. Playing at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, August 31, Badoni smashed an incredible 165 runs off just 55 balls, leaving spectators in awe.
Entering the game at number three after opener Sarthak Ray was dismissed for 11, the 24-year-old right-hander dominated the bowlers, thrilling fans with his powerful hitting. Badoni hit an astonishing 19 sixes and eight fours, ending his innings with a remarkable strike rate of 300.
In doing so, Badoni broke Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in a T20 match. Gayle had previously set the record with 18 sixes in a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) game in December 2017. Additionally, Badoni now holds the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in T20 cricket, surpassing Shreyas Iyer’s 147 off 55 balls against Sikkim in February 2019.

Ayush Badoni has been in exceptional form throughout the ongoing DPL 2024 season. Currently, he is the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament, accumulating 452 runs in seven innings with a strike rate of 212.21. His impressive stats include four half-centuries and one century.
Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya Lead South Delhi Superstarz to Massive Total
South Delhi Superstarz opted to bat first after winning the toss against North Delhi Strikers. Ayush Badoni’s 165-run heroics were complemented by opener Priyansh Arya, who also played a sensational inning. Arya scored 120 runs from just 50 balls, hitting 10 sixes and 10 fours. Notably, he smashed six consecutive sixes off left-arm spinner Manan Bhardwaj in the 12th over.
Thanks to the exceptional performances by Badoni and Arya, South Delhi Superstarz posted a massive total of 308/5 in 20 overs, the highest in the inaugural DPL 2024 season. Pranshu Vijayran was the only bowler with an economy rate under 10, finishing with figures of 4-0-39-2.
Led by Ayush Badoni, South Delhi Superstarz are currently second on the points table, having won five out of their seven matches. Meanwhile, North Delhi Strikers have secured three wins from seven games, placing them third in the standings.
