BAN vs NED: Litton Das Shines As Rain Brings End To T20I Series With Bangladesh Winning 2-0

4 Min Read

In a rain-affected end to the BAN vs NED T20I series, Litton Das‘ aggressive 73 was the pick of a stop-start third Sylhet match. Though rain interrupted play several times, Bangladesh reached a strong 164/4 in 18.2 overs before the weather prevailed. With no play being possible, the match resulted in a no-result and Bangladesh wrapped up the three-match series 2-0.

Litton Das Anchors Bangladesh with a Composed 73

Sustained by team rotation that brought in a few changes, Litton Das played his natural opening role to perfection. He came out with a two-phase knock. He started with a bang, racing to 42 off only 16 balls with beautiful timing and force. One of the highlights of his innings was a brutal over against Daniel Doram when he punched four boundaries and a six in succession.

Nonetheless, interruptions disrupted the flow. After a floodlight breakdown and a long rain interruption, Litton could not regain the momentum, scoring only 31 runs off his last 30 overs before being dismissed in the 15th over. His 73 from 46 balls, despite being marked by missed opportunities, formed the pillar of Bangladesh’s innings.

BAN vs NED: Rain Ruins Party in Sylhet

The third BAN vs NED T20I was interrupted several times:

Floodlight failure suspended play for 11 minutes in the fifth over. Heavy rain soon followed, suspending play for a further 37 minutes. The last rain break, shortly after 18.2 overs, brought an early end to the match. Continuing efforts to restart were thwarted by constant showers, seeing no further action, and the match declared a no-result.

Nurul Hasan and Jaker Ali Give Bangladesh a Boost at the Death

Back in T20Is after a long gap, Nurul Hasan chipped in with Jaker Ali. The duo scored 42 runs off 23 balls at the end, chipping in with late momentum during the dying overs.

Their attacking gesture was seen best in the 18th over, when they extracted 22 runs from Kyle Klein, getting Bangladesh past 160 before rain brought proceedings to a stop.

Netherlands Show Glimpses of Fightback

Having lost the toss in the previous games and bowled with dew, Scott Edwards finally got to field first in dry conditions. However, early damage by Litton meant Netherlands were on the back foot.

That said, the Dutch bowlers found some rhythm after the rain break:

Aryan Dutt and Tim Pringle tightened things up in the middle overs. Towhid Hridoy, under pressure, perished after a slow 9 off 13.Netherlands allowed only 28 runs in the 35 balls following the rain interruption, claiming one important wicket in that period.

Kyle Klein’s Mixed Bag PerformanceYoung fast Kyle Klein had a rollercoaster performance. Although he took 3 wickets, he was also costly, conceding 53 runs in four overs, including a beamer and some boundary balls. At the start of the innings, Bangladesh had already galloped to 56/1 in six overs, putting Netherlands on the back foot.

Two dropped chances off Litton (on 37 and 68) contributed to the frustrations of Netherlands, though the latter drop did not cause much difference.
