Bandipora District Ball Badminton Championship 2024-25: All You Need To Know

The hill town of Bandipora in India’s Jammu and Kashmir is hosting the District Ball Badminton Championship 2024-25 for Boys & Girls.

The championship is a two-day event organised by the District Bandipora Ball Badminton Association in collaboration with the J&K Ball Badminton Association.

Sponsored by the J&K Sports Council, the event will be held at Candles Garden Educational Institute from March 12 to 13, 2025.

With top performers earning a chance to represent Bandipora at the UT-level Ball Badminton Championship.

The objective of the tournament is to uplift the sport of Ball Badminton in the region and provide young athletes with a platform to showcase their skills. 

The tournament will follow the official rules set by the Ball Badminton Federation of India (BBFI) to ensure fair play and high-level competition.

Significance of District Ball Badminton Championship 2024-25

The Championship will serve as an audition for the selection for the UT-Level Championship.  The top-performing players who will get an opportunity to represent Bandipora at the upcoming UT-Level Ball Badminton Championship. This will provide young athletes a platform to compete at higher levels.

What is Ball Badminton? 

Ball badminton is a sport with its origin in India. It is a racket sport game and the ball it is played on is made of wool. It is an outdoor game and the court it is played on has a fixed dimensions of 12 by 24 metres divided by a net. 

While the sport is mostly an indoor game, more recently, indoor versions of the game have been played under artificial lighting.

In India, Ball Badminton is managed by “Ball Badminton Federation of India” and there are a total of 34 units affiliated to the body.
