The BCCI is confident that India will host the World T20 in October as per schedule despite a massive surge in COVID-19 cases in the country but only 5 Cities are favorable to host the matches.

Now As per convention, ICC keeps a back-up country ready and it’s been the UAE since last year.

Managing a big Cricket league like the T-20 World Cup could be a little different than hosting the ongoing IPL as the Bio-Bubble Environment seems to be so secure right now, but as per the reports coming out the cloud of problems is still on the BCCI’s head, because if the conditions continue to be like today only, then it can be dangerous for Players of different countries coming to play in India. We’ve seen many players backing up from the IPL because of the massive surge in corona cases, the reason why ICC is in mild confusion to give India the Green card to host the Tournament.

‘We are still hopeful that with five months left and a significant population being vaccinated, we will be in a position to host World T20. Yes, one of the options could be curtailing the nine venues to a maximum of four or five,’ a senior BCCI issued a statement to PTI on Friday.
