American Ben Shelton lost his cool when officials paused the play in his second-round encounter with Rinky Hijikata at Wimbledon.
After winning the first two sets 6-2 7-5, 10th seed Shelton was leading 5-4 in the third and a potential victory was just round the corner .
But with the sunlight having faded, the umpire on court 2 announced that there would be no more play that evening, much to Shelton’s frustration.
The 22-year-old, angrily questioned officials about the decision. Shelton even marched over to the chair umpire.
Shelton took to social media to vent his anger in a 14-word post, as he said: “They ain’t wanna see anything else from me tonight, but I’ll see yall tomorrow.”
The American is looking for his first career Grand Slam victory. He has been a two-time semi-finalists in the Majors. Last year at Wimbledon, he reached the fourth round, a career best at the All England Club.
When will the match resume?
Ben Shelton and Rinky Hijikata will resume their rivalry on Friday.
