Bengaluru is set to host the Billie Jean King Cup Playoffs for the first time ever, marking the tournament’s debut on Indian soil. The event will take place from November 14 to 16, 2025, at SM Krishna Tennis Stadium in Cubbon Park, under the supervision of the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA).
Historic First for India
This is the first time India will host the Billie Jean King Cup Playoffs. The tournament is a global women’s team tennis competition formerly known as the Fed Cup. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced Bengaluru as one of seven host cities worldwide, following a draw held in London.
India’s qualification for the playoffs is itself a rare achievement, as it is only the second time in the nation’s history that the team has reached this stage. The breakthrough came after a strong showing in the Asia/Oceania Group I tie held in Pune, where India secured a crucial 2-1 victory over South Korea and finished with four wins in the six-team competition, alongside New Zealand.
Billie Jean King Cup Playoffs Format And Groupings
The 2025 playoffs feature 21 nations divided into seven groups of three teams each. Each group tie is hosted by one of the participating countries. India has been drawn into Group G, alongside Slovenia and the seventh-seeded Netherlands.
Group G Teams: India, Slovenia, Netherlands
The group will compete in a round-robin format, with the winner advancing to the 2026 Qualifiers. The remaining two teams will return to their respective 2026 Regional Group I events.
