The threatening email was sent by an unknown sender and arrived in the official email account of CAB when the match was being played.

This came barely a day after Operation Sindoor, an Indian military counter-strategy that followed the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. Following the threat, security was greatly increased at and around Eden Gardens.
