In a thrilling BP vs TR, The Hundred 2025 women’s match, Nat Sciver-Brunt lived up to expectations again with a stunning half-century as Trent Rockets pulled off a thrilling three-wicket victory over Birmingham Phoenix at Trent Bridge. The win was the Rockets’ third in succession and saw them finish their season in fourth position on the points table.

Leading from the Front: Sciver-Brunt’s Classy 52

England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt once again proved why she’s one of the best T20 batters in the world. Her attacking yet calculated 52 from 29 balls proved the difference in a chase to 124.

This is Sciver-Brunt’s third half-century of the summer, taking her to second on the list of this summer’s top run-scorers in this year’s The Hundred Women, behind Oval Invincibles’ Meg Lanning.

BP vs TR: Rockets’ Chase Full of Twists

Chasing 124, the Rockets got off to a wobbly start with Bryony Smith bowled for 10 by an excellent slower yorker from Em Arlott. But Sciver-Brunt soon steadied the ship, compiling a 46-run partnership with Grace Scrivens (16).

But a twist soon entered the equation:

Ash Gardner contributed two scoring boundaries before being dismissed by Megan Schutt off a breathtaking diving catch from Ailsa Lister. Soon after she turned fifty, Sciver-Brunt was sent packing by Hannah Baker, chipping to extra cover. The innings continued to slip with Phoebe Brett taking two key wickets Heather Graham and Ellie Threlkeld in a mere four balls, ending with 3 for 19.

Despite of the frenzy, Alana King contributed a useful 9 runs. In her absence, Jodi Grewcock wrapped up the victory with a boundary, with three balls remaining to spare securing Rockets’ inaugural home win of the season.

Phoenix Set Competitive Target Thanks to Emma Lamb

Batting first in the BP vs TR showdown, Birmingham Phoenix set a fighting 123-6, led by Emma Lamb. Lamb was unbeaten on 56 from 42 deliveries, her second fifty of the campaign, striking five boundaries. Despite of a slow wicket and a tricky spin attack by the Rockets, Lamb’s calm demeanor provided Phoenix with a fight.

Supporting contributions were made by:

Ellyse Perry (14)

Marie Kelly (14)

Ailsa Lister (12 from 6)

However, the Phoenix struggled to accelerate, primarily due to the disciplined bowling from the Rockets’ spinners:

Kirstie Gordon: 2-24

Alana King: 1-21

Ash Gardner: 1-18

What Sciver-Brunt Said Post-Match

Named the Meerkat Match Hero, Sciver-Brunt reflected on her performance:

“I wish I had been able to finish the game, get it a little more settled for everyone, but that’s something I’ll do. When I have been getting runs this year, I haven’t been around at the end — so that’s a big learning point.”

She praised the Rockets’ mentality as well:

“As a batting unit, we want to get ahead of the game and remain ahead. That was my plan today. Luckily we were ahead when I got out, otherwise it would’ve been more tense”

And on winning at home:

“It’s always a special day when you win at your home ground. We hadn’t done that this season until today. The wicket is slow and tricky, and we took our time to get used to it but we got the job done.”
