On the second day of the high stakes bidding, the broadcasting rights for the upcoming five-year cycle of the Indian Premier League have surpassed the INR 40,000 Crore threshold. According to individuals who know the situation, the actual cost of the media rights for the IPL from 2023 to 2027 is INR 44,075 Crores.

The media rights value has increased to almost forty thousand crores on day two of the most profitable cricket league in history, shattering all previous records. Regarding media rights, the IPL is currently just behind the NFL in America. The NFL values its media rights at INR 136 crores each game.

The most recent information indicates that the TV rights (Package A) were sold for INR 23,575 crores, or Rs 57.5 crores for each match, while the digital rights (Package B) were sold for INR 20,500 crores, or Rs 50 crores per match. For all IPL matches over the next five years, both packages were for the Indian subcontinent.

The BCCI has yet to disclose the specifics of the winners of the media rights in each package, but the IPL matches are worth Rs 107.5 crore (TV + Digital) each match.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights are worth more than twice as much as what Star paid the BCCI five years back in 2017.

Several news organizations have stated that Disney Star has won the TV rights and Viacom 18 has won the internet rights, even though the BCCI has yet to confirm the winners’ specifics officially.

The BCCI announced Monday that bidding for the two additional packages (C&D) would extend into day three. Package D will include all TV and digital matches for the international audience, while Package C features 18 particular matchups for each IPL season.
