Latest BWF World Rankings: Shi Yuqi, An Seyoung Retain Top Spot

In the season-opener, Shi Yuqi of the People’s Republic of China emerged as the champion in men’s singles, while Olympic gold medallist An Seyoung of South Korea bagged the title in women’s singles. The results meant both Yuqi and Seyoung retained their top spot in the BWF world rankings.

BWF World Rankings: The first BWF tournament of the year- the Malaysian Open 2025- concluded this weekend. In the season-opener, Shi Yuqi of the People’s Republic of China emerged as the champion in men’s singles, while Olympic gold medallist An Seyoung of South Korea bagged the title in women’s singles. 

The results meant both Yuqi and Seyoung retained their top spot in the BWF world rankings. 

In men’s singles, Denmark’s Anders Antonsen occupied the second spot followed by Jonatan Christie of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, in women’s singles, Chinese shuttler Wang Zhiyi holds the second place followed by Yamaguchi Akane of Japan.
