Cameroon’s Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, has emphasized the need for a remarkable performance by the national football team at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). In a recent meeting in Yaounde, Kombi urged the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) and associated partners to prioritize the team’s preparation for the tournament.
During the session, Kombi expressed his directive, stating, “We want an honorable performance,” stressing the importance of showcasing the team’s resilience and captivating ability in the sporting arena. He further encouraged the selection of a strong, cohesive, and effective team for the championship.

Additionally, Kombi highlighted the significance of the team’s upcoming home match on Dec. 27 as an opportunity to foster unity between the national squad and the public. Following this, the team is set to face Equatorial Guinea in a friendly match in Saudi Arabia on Jan. 9, 2024, further preparing for the AFCON challenge.
Scheduled from Jan. 13 to Feb. 11 in Cote d’Ivoire, the AFCON will host 24 teams, with Cameroon placed in Group C alongside defending champions Senegal, Guinea, and Gambia.
