Camille Rast of Switzerland produced a stunning comeback Tuesday (14 January) to clinch the FIS women’s slalom World Cup in Flachau, Austria.
Rast was off to a last start with eighth place after the opening run. However, she recovered through difficult conditions delivering a fast midsection run down the slopes with ease.
She clocked 56.75 which was the second-best of the second run but enough to catapult her to the overall win with a combined time of 1:55.03. I
It was the second World Cup victory for the Swiss, having previously won the slalom at Killington a year ago. She has a total of four podium finishes in her career.

“Not bad,” Rast said afterward with a laugh. “I saw yesterday on Instagram that Mikaela [Shiffrin] and Petra [Vlhova] won the last six races here, so I am really happy today to add a new name to the list.”
Vlhova, the 2022 Olympic slalom champion, and Shiffrin were both missing from Tuesday’s action due to injuries.
The second spot in women’s slalom at the FIS World Cup in Flachau was bagged by Beijing 2022 Olympic bronze medallist Wendy Holdener of Switzerland at 1:55.19, followed by Sweden’s Sara Hector in the third place (1:55.41).
The next stop for slalom in the FIS World Cup is set for Courchevel, France, on 30 January.
