There are a few similarities between Dravid and Sharma. Rahul is calm and meditative in the field while Rohit is cool and chill, even though he looked animated on late occasions. Rahul retired when Rohit was not a permanent part of the talented Indian team. So, they could not play much cricket together.

Rohit and Rahul have done well so far. This was also a period when India tried different captains for different formats to ensure workload management. Thus we could only see a limited amount of series between the skipper and coach. They have hit the right notes most of the time. The Asia Cup setback is a disappointment. But India bounced back in the bilateral after victory in the T20 series against world champions Australia and the Proteas.

As Virat Kohli enjoyed a glorious period, there were no talks about replacing him in any formats as the captain. He announced his captaincy retirement after India failed to qualify for the super six stages in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Ravi Shastri too followed the suit as he decided not to extend his contract. Soon, India got a new captain and coach.

What next for Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid?

Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid have a major responsibility next. They’ll lead India as they hope for a title in the T20 World Cup. Team India last won an ICC event, a decade back during the Champions Trophy in 2013. They have a lot to play for this year.

Team India is going in as a clear favourite this year. In the run-up, India gave chances to many players to decide the best combination for the main event. They have zeroed in on the playing eleven for October 23 clash versus Pakistan. Most of the players are now accustomed to pressure situations after their stint in the IPL.

Can India win the trophy?

India is placed in a relatively safer group that has Bangladesh, South Africa, and Pakistan, alongside two qualified teams. As per the current form, Rohit’s men have a significant chance to make it to the semifinals from this group.

However, an ICC tournament is all about seizing the moments in the exact situations. But they have the right men tasked with key duties. Rohit has won five IPL titles in the T20 format. Rahul has coached the Indian U-19 team to the World Cup trophy in the past. Fans and analysts hope the duo repeats their past glory to help India overcome the pressure and win the cup this year.
