CAN vs UAE: UAE Accomplish Tense Chase Against Canada

UAE got off the mark in the ongoing edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup after getting over the line in a tense chase against Canada.

CAN vs UAE: The Beginning

Batting first after winning the toss, Canada lost three wickets in quick succession after a decent start, courtesy of some disciplined bowling from the UAE bowlers, led by Junaid Sidique. The experienced fast bowler, after going for runs in the first few balls of his spell, came back strongly and picked up the wicket of the Canadian captain and opening batter Dilpreet Bajwa. The wicket of Bajwa was followed by his opening partner, Yuvraj Samra, who became the second victim of Siddique.

CAN vs UAE: The Consolidation

Canada were forced to rtake the back seat after loosing three wickets in the first six overs and were in desperate need ofa partnership which as stitched between Navneet Dhaliwal and Harsh Thaker who took the score to 96 before Dhaliwal got run out in an unusual fashion for 34 which gave UAE a chance to get back into the game anddectae terms by keeping the Canadian batters in check.

CAN vs UAE: The Final Phase

Harsh Thaker, who was set at one end, did try to up the ante in the final five overs, but was outdone by Junnaid Siddique after notching up his half-century to give the bowler his third wicket of the game, ending up with figures of 5 for 35 in four overs. Siddique was well supported by Haider Ali and Muhammad Jawadullah, who gave away run sat an economy of four runs per over in his spell of four overs.

CAN vs UAE: The Chase

Chasing 151 runs to win, UAE batters were cautious right from the start as they lost the wicket of their captain, Muhammad Waseem, in the first half of the powerplay and could only score 39 runs in the first six overs. Having said that, one thing that was in the UAE’s favour was that the team wasn’t chasing a big score and had one set better in the form of Aryansh Sharma.

CAN vs UAE: The Shift

Despite loosing wickets in the middle phase of the innings UAE were well on track to chase ther target courtesy of an 84 run partnership between Aryansh Sharma and Shoaib Khan that took the team within touching distance of overhauling the target before Shoaib Khan got out on the third ball of the last over with UAE still needing one run to win the match which was achieved without much drama.

CAN vs UAE: The Bowling Effort

Defending 150 runs, Canadian bowlers did a fine job for the majority of the UAE innings by keeping the batters in check by picking wickets at regular intervals, only faltering to do so in the final five overs.

Saad Bin Zafar was the pick of the Canadian bowlers as he got rid of three opposition batters, giving away just 14 runs in the process.
