Renowned as ‘Captain Cool,’ MS Dhoni’s trademark composure extends beyond the cricket field. His nonchalant nature shines through, even in the face of monumental moments. This was evident in his reaction to India’s historic achievement with Chandrayaan-3’s moon landing, capturing the attention of social media users.
As India awaited the groundbreaking lunar touchdown, Dhoni, like countless others, tuned in to witness this significant event. At around 6:04 pm (IST), as India successfully achieved the first-ever landing on the unexplored south pole of the moon, Dhoni’s response remained characteristically understated.
In a widely circulated video, Dhoni, casually dressed in a tank t-shirt and shorts within a gym setting, softly clapped his thigh while those around him erupted into jubilant applause. This unassuming reaction highlights Dhoni’s unique demeanor.
Although the seven-second video didn’t reveal his face, global fans promptly recognized the legendary cricketer.
Another video showcased Dhoni’s daughter, Ziva, expressing her exuberance for India’s lunar mission, albeit with more enthusiasm than her father.
Even the Indian cricket team, stationed in Ireland for a T20I series, joined in the celebration. Pictures and clips of players, including Jasprit Bumrah, observing the moment before their match in Dublin, spread across social media. Although rain disrupted the match, the heartwarming visuals of Indian cricketers rejoicing in India’s lunar accomplishment resonated with many.
Comprising the lander (Vikram) and rover (Pragyan), Chandrayaan-3 successfully touched down on the moon’s southern hemisphere at 6:04 pm. This achievement marks India as the fourth nation to achieve soft-landing technology on the lunar surface, following the US, China, and the former Soviet Union.
With Chandrayaan 3’s successful landing, the rover module will commence its 14-day mission to conduct experiments mandated by ISRO scientists. Tasks include further insights into the lunar surface.
As the ‘Vikram’ Lander accomplishes its role in ensuring a secure touchdown, the most challenging phase of the mission awaits. The rover, ‘Pragyan,’ positioned within the lander module, will embark on a series of experiments on the moon’s surface in the days to come.
