Cricket World Cup 2023: BCCI announces official ticket partner

The official ticketing partner for Cricket World Cup 2023 was announced by the BCCI. Here is a look at how to buy tickets for the World Cup.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India is just 42 days away. This will be the 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup and will be held in 10 Indian cities from the 5th of October to the 19th of November. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the official ticketing partner for the ODI World Cup. The official ticketing partner for the Cricket World Cup is BookMyShow. BookMyShow is India’s premier ticketing platform for movies, music and comedy events, sports and more. The competition is scheduled to start on September 29 with exhibition matches in Hyderabad, Trivandrum and Guwahati.

The ICC previously requested that fans wanting online tickets register on the website before continuing to make a purchase. When fans book their tickets, BCCI wants the process to be simple and comprehensive. This renowned tournament’s sale procedure will be unveiled in a number of carefully orchestrated steps. The first stage includes a 24-hour window reserved only for ICC’s business partner, ‘Mastercard’. Before the main round, which will feature 10 qualified teams, begins, the competition will be played for 52 days, including the warm-up games.

BCCI doesn’t want any more hiccups

BCCI has already received flak for changing the ODI World Cup schedule. The highly anticipated match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan was one of the eight matches that were rescheduled. Recently, there were reports that the Hyderabad Cricket Association wanted a change of dates as well. The request was denied by BCCI saying it is tough to change the schedule.

Hemang Amin, the interim CEO of BCCI, said upon the announcement of the ticketing partner, “As we approached the highly anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, a pinnacle event in this year’s international calendar, we were thrilled to unveil BookMyShow as the ticketing platform. The commencement of online ticket sales marks a pivotal moment in the lead-up to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. With unwavering confidence, we anticipate a seamless ticketing experience aimed at offering fans unobstructed access to the thrilling on-field encounters.” The tournament will feature 58 games in total, with 10 warm-up games and 48 main event games spread over 12 venues.

The opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup, between New Zealand and England at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, is set for October 5. On October 14, the most anticipated match of the World Cup between India and Pakistan will take place at the same location. On November 15 and 16, the semi-final matches will take place in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata, respectively. On November 19, the final match will be held in Ahmedabad. Other centres include Lucknow, Chennai, Hyderabad (including the warm-up), Bangalore, Delhi, Dharamshala, and Pune in addition to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Along with Hyderabad, warm-up matches will be held in Trivandrum, Guwahati, and Assam.
