Jasprit Bumrah is currently at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. He recently had back scans, and the medical team will work with the selectors and Indian team management to decide if he will play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Jasprit Bumrah reportedly has a stress reaction in his back, needing five weeks of rest. If there’s a chance he could play in the later stages of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the BCCI might keep him in the squad and replace him later, pending ICC approval.
Bumrah injured his back during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 final game. He felt pain while bowling in the first innings and left after 10 overs. He didn’t bowl in the second innings, which raised concerns.
Since then, he has been inactive, and his recovery has been unclear. It was hoped he’d be fit for the last match of the ongoing England series in Ahmedabad, but he was ruled out for the entire three-match series.

If Bumrah is ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, it will be a big setback for the Indian team. His quality as a pacer is crucial, and with only two pacers named in the squad and Hardik Pandya as the fast-bowling all-rounder, his absence will be felt even more.
India currently has Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh in the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Shami has been below his best in the ongoing England series, while Arshdeep Singh has yet to play a game.
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 starts on 19th February. India’s first match is against Bangladesh on 20th February, followed by Pakistan on 23rd February and New Zealand on 2nd March.
