Champions Trophy 2025 IND vs AUS Semi-Final: So far, three matches in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy have been affected by rain. During the group stage, both teams got one point each when a match was called off due to rain. But what happens if this happens in the semifinals? In this case, there is a reserve day set for both the semifinals and the final.
The IND vs AUS match will be played in Dubai, where the chances of rain canceling the match are very low. However, if it does rain during the semifinal, every effort will be made to finish the match on the same day.
If that’s not possible, the game will continue on the reserve day from where it was paused. If the match still can’t be completed on the reserve day, the team that finished at the top of the group stage table will qualify for the final.
In the knockout matches, for the result to be decided using the DLS method, the team batting second must have completed at least 25 overs. There is a chance of rain in Lahore, where the second semifinal between South Africa and New Zealand is set to take place.
India and South Africa will qualify for the final if both semifinals are canceled due to rain. If the final is also washed out, the trophy will be shared. Interestingly, the Champions Trophy has only been shared once in its history, back in 2002 when the final between India and Sri Lanka was canceled twice, including on the reserve day. However, at that time, the match was played again on the reserve day according to the playing conditions.
On both days, Sri Lanka batted first and played their full 50 overs, but rain prevented India’s innings from reaching even 10 overs on both occasions.
