Chelsea FC took full advantage of their on-paper superiority

Chelsea FC took full advantage of their on-paper superiority, securing an emphatic 4-1 win against Djurgardens IF at the 3Arena in Stockholm.

The match started with a great mismatch in the squad value that was straight away replicated on the field. Chelsea started the match with a bang as they started weaving passes in and around the field. This was expected that Chelsea would keep possession and Djurgardens would try to attack on counters and sit deep to keep their defensive shape.

The proceedings were started by Jadon Sancho

The proceedings were started by Jadon Sancho, who received the ball in the box without any marker and scored a simple goal that was tried to stop by Djurgardens’ defence but failed to do so.

Noni Madueke proved to be a constant threat from the right hand side and in the 43rd minute, he reaped the rewards when he finished a calm shot in the near post from an Enzo Fernandez assist.

The second half was more competitive

The second half was more competitive as Djurgarden looked like a team possessed and also different from how they were playing in the 1st half. They looked getting close to a goal but a mistake from the keeper allowed Nicolas Jackson to go through and score the 3rd goal and kill the tie. The Senegalese striker scored another goal after 6 minutes and celebrated a brace.

The efforts of Djurgarden players did not go unnoticed as they were able to get one back within 3 minutes of Jackson’s second. The Swedish team looked better in the 2nd half where they continued to test Chelsea’s defence and made sure it was no piece of cake for Chelsea to get through to the full-time.

Cole Palmer also received a chance to end his goal-drought

Cole Palmer also received a chance to end his goal-drought but he had to wait longer to do that as he failed to convert a chance from just outside the box.

Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson both played the second half and looked like they have achieved full match fitness for their next set of matches in the Premier League.
