Cristiano Ronaldo Honoured For Most Goals In Champions League History

Portugal football star Cristiano Ronaldo added another feather to his cap when he received a special honour from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for his outstanding achievement in the prestigious tournament.

Ronaldo was honoured as UEFA Champions League All-Time Top Scorer and he received the award during the Champions League 2024-25 draw event at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco on August 29.

“For me, it’s a pleasure to be here. Thank you for this amazing award. As you know, the Champions League is the highest in football. The records speak for themselves but the league (is at that level) because of the players that play in the competition. I have nice memories coming to this gala and football is managed by memories. So, thank you for this,” the football legend said after receiving the award.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League Highlights

Ronaldo has scored 140 goals in the history of the UEFA-organized league. These goals were scored from 183 games while playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus in the European football league system.

The striker is 11 goals clear of Argentina’s Lionel Messi and 46 ahead of third-placed Poland’s Robert Lewandowski at the top of the scoring charts.

Ronaldo has won the elite European club tournament once with Manchester United and four times with Real Madrid. He became the first five-time winner in the tournament’s history. He is the only player to date to have scored in three separate finals- 2008, 2014 and 2017.

The 37-year-old also holds the record for the longest scoring streak in the tournament, having scored in 11 successive games from June 2017 to April 2018. He has also struck an astounding eight hat-tricks.
