Cristiano Ronaldo Calls Himself The Most Complete Player In Football History

3 Min Read

Cristiano Ronaldo declared himself as the “most complete player” in the history of football. The Portuguese star put himself above arch-rival Lionel Messi, Brazil legend Pele and Argentine stalwart Diego Maradona in the list of most successful players.

In an interview with El Chiringuito, a Spanish television show, Ronaldo reflected on his numbers to call himself the best of the best.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest goal-scorer in the history of men’s football with 923 goals.

“Who’s the best goal-scorer in history? It’s about numbers. Full stop,” Cristiano Ronaldo said.

‘Who’s scored most goals with their head, left foot…’, asks Ronaldo

“Who’s the player in history who’s scored most goals with their head, their left foot, penalties, free kicks? I was looking the other day, and not being left-footed, I’m in the top 10 goalscorers with their left foot in history. And with my head, and with my right foot, and penalties. All of them,” he said.

Ronaldo has been compared with long-time rival Argentina great Lionel Messi ever since both of them began their professional football careers more than two decades ago. While Messi ended his wait to win a FIFA World Cup in 2022, Ronaldo is yet to get his hands on the trophy.

Numbers Dont Lie…

The 39-year-old insisted once again that it was about the numbers. “I’m talking about numbers,” he said.

“I think I’m the most complete player to have existed. In my opinion, I think it’s me. I do everything well in football: with my head, free kicks, left foot. I’m fast, I’m strong,” he added.

“One thing is taste – if you like Messi, Pelé, Maradona, I understand that and I respect that – but saying Ronaldo isn’t complete… I’m the most complete. I haven’t seen anybody better than me, and I say it from the heart,” he further commented.

Cristiano Ronaldo remains one of the most decorated footballers of all time. The 39-year-old has clinched five Ballons d’Or awards and a number of other recognitions, while setting numerous records throughout his glorious career. The one thing that is missing from his list of achievements is the FIFA World Cup trophy.
