CSK 2025 IPL Auction: Targeting Key Players For A Strong Comeback

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are strategizing for the upcoming 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. After a challenging season without playoff success, CSK is looking to bounce back with a stronger lineup.

CSK has retained five players: Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, pace talent Matheesha Pathirana, and Shivam Dube. Former captain MS Dhoni will stay on as an “uncapped” player, providing experience and stability. With one RTM (Right to Match) card left, Chennai will look to bring back familiar faces to bolster their squad. Here are three players they could target.

1. Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra had a mixed season in IPL 2024, delivering some strong performances early on but losing form midway. He made an impactful comeback in the final game of the season, proving his value. Ravindra’s adaptability, skillful spin play, and bowling abilities make him ideal for Chennai’s spin-friendly conditions. Given his growth in international cricket and experience as a valuable all-rounder, Ravindra could be a top candidate for Chennai.

2. Sameer Rizvi

CSK secured Sameer Rizvi in the 2024 auction for ₹8.4 crore. Although Rizvi didn’t see much action, he displayed moments of brilliance, notably when he hit twin sixes against Rashid Khan. A promising spin hitter with significant potential, Rizvi could thrive under CSK’s guidance. As an emerging talent, he’s expected to be a key addition to the team’s future plans.

3. Tushar Deshpande

Fast bowler Tushar Deshpande has been an essential part of CSK’s setup, often taking on challenging roles like bowling in the powerplay and at the death. While Deshpande may not be the most consistent bowler, he brings the pace and aggression that IPL teams covet. Capable of hitting speeds above 140 kph, Deshpande’s skills are likely to attract many teams. For CSK, reacquiring him would strengthen their bowling lineup with a familiar and tested player.
