IPL 2021: CSK skipper MS Dhoni likely to get banned? Check out
CSK captain will now have to be alert about his bowlers in his next match against Punjab Kings. Another offense by the CSK would lead to Dhoni’s disqualification from the upcoming two matches in IPL 2021.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni is currently at peril in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The former Indian captain who announced his retirement last year was charged with Rs 12 lakh for a miserable slow over rate by his team.
According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) it is a strict instruction to all the eight franchises and match officials that the maximum limit for bowling 20 overs in an innings is going to be 1 hour and 30 minutes. According to the IPL Code of Conduct, the penalty for the first over-rate offence is Rs 12 lakh fine but if the captain tends to repeat this offence within the next two games, he becomes a repeat offender. He is therefore banned for the next two or four games with the decision resting on the match referee’s end as well.
The CSK captain will now have to be alert about his bowlers in his next match against Punjab Kings. Another offence by the CSK would lead to Dhoni’s disqualification from the upcoming two matches in IPL 2021.
The three-time former champions went through a poor start of this year’s IPL as they went down against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in a high scoring encounter.
As per the rules stated by the BCCI for IPL, the officials are supposed to calculate the over rate at the end of each innings. However, they also make the following allocation into consideration as well according to Clause 12.7.3:
1. The time lost as a result of treatment given to a player by authorized medical personnel on the field of play.
2. The time lost as a result of a player being required to leave the field as a result of a serious injury.
3. The time is taken for all third umpire referrals, consultations and any umpire or player reviews.
4. The time lost as a result of time-wasting by the batting side.
5. The time lost due to all other circumstances that are beyond the control of the fielding side.
