India captain Rohit Sharma has climbed to the second position in the latest ICC ODI rankings, pushing Pakistan’s Babar Azam. This is the first time that Babar has been ranked outside the top two in the batting rankings in the ODI since November 3, 2020.
Babar saw a lean spell in the recent three-match ODI series against West Indies, managing to score 47 in the first game before scoring a duck and a nine-ball 23 in the subsequent two games. The absence of big scores meant he lost his No.2 ranking, with Rohit now in second place just behind the number-one-ranked Shubman Gill.
Batting Rankings – Key Movements
The number one spot in the ICC ODI batting rankings experiences little movement except for the ascent of Rohit and the descent of Babar. Travis Head progressed one position to joint-12th with Keacy Carty, while Pakistan ODI skipper Mohammad Rizwan fell from 21st to joint-22nd due to mixed form (scores of 53, 16, and 0).
