The first T20I match against South Africa at the Green Field International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram proved to be a game-changer for Arshdeep Singh, who was named as the man-of-the-match. The left arm-medium pacer has recently made his debut in international cricket and was brutally trolled for dropping a crucial catch during the India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup. Singh was also blamed for being the reason why India had to make an early exit from the Asia Cup.
Arshdeep’s three-wicket haul left the top class batters from South Africa clueless on the pitch of Greenfield Stadium during the first T20I match. Singh, with his perfect length spinners, picked the most crucial wickets of South Africa, including class batters like Quinton de Kock, Rilee Rossouw, and David Miller. Arshdeep’s three-wicket haul accompanied by Deepak Chahar’s two-wicket haul destroyed the top order of the South Cricket Team.
Reacting to the formidable lead of 1-0 against South Africa in the three-match T20I series in Thiruvananthapuram, the man-of-the-match and the new most economical bowler of India, Arshdeep Singh was seen decoding his simple plan that annihilated Africa’s playing XI. The left-hand medium pacer mentioned that the plan was as simple as hitting the right spots on the pitch. “It felt really good getting those crucial wickets quite early in the match. It is always a great feeling. The plan for bowling was really simple. The ball was swinging and I just had to pitch it at the right places, That’s all.” Arshdeep mentioned during the post-match press conference.
During the post-match press conference, the star player also admitted that spending some days and training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) has really helped him in shaping his swings and coming out stronger as one of the strongest players of the Indian cricket team.
Arshdeep Singh also mentioned that the players of the Indian cricket team are currently looking forward to adapting to the Australian conditions. Singh mentioned that after reaching Australia, the target of the team would be to adapt to the ground conditions and to see how the Australian pitches work.
With a formidable victory against South Africa, Team India is currently leading the three-match T20I series by 1-0. The next two matches are scheduled to take place in Guwahati and Indore on October 2 and October 4 respectively.
