Fast bowler Deepak Chahar is set to be one of the top attractions in the upcoming IPL 2025 auction. Despite recent injuries, he’s hopeful about his return to the league. In the last three years, Chahar has spent 18 months recovering from various injuries. During the 2024 IPL season, he played eight matches for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) before a hamstring issue sidelined him for the rest of the season. Now back in action on the domestic circuit, Chahar has expressed excitement about playing in the IPL again.

While Chahar has voiced his desire to continue with CSK, he also wouldn’t mind being picked up by the Rajasthan Royals (RR). He recently told TOI, “I think [CSK] will bid for me again. I would love to wear the yellow jersey again, but if not, I’d like the Rajasthan Royals to go for me.”

In 2011, Chahar joined the Rajasthan Royals but didn’t play a match for them. However, that time likely helped him get a feel for the team and conditions at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, and he’s continued playing at Jaipur ever since. Chahar’s economical bowling, particularly from 2018 to 2020, where he kept his economy under 8, makes him an appealing choice for a T20 team.

After taking 14 wickets in the 2021 season, CSK brought Chahar back for a whopping INR 14 Crore, showing their faith in his abilities. Although he missed the 2022 season due to a quadriceps injury, Chahar’s comeback potential remains strong.
