Ding Liren cultivated his passion for Chess at the young age of four. At age 16, Ding became the youngest person ever to win the Chinese Chess Championship. He became the first player in history to make the finals of consecutive Chess World Cups, in 2017 and 2019. Ding has represented China in all the Chess Olympiads that took place between 2012 and 2018. He also emerged as a Chinese chess champion thrice in the years 2009, 2011, and 2012.
