With the opening of the stunning Ahmad Bin Ali stadium in Al Rayyan city on Friday, Qatar officially opened the fourth FIFA World Cup venue for the 2022 tournament. The stadium that represents diverse facets of the culture of the Middle Eastern nation was presented on Friday, which also happens to be Qatar’s National Day.
The stadium’s exterior is illuminated and covered in patterns that represent several facets of Qatar, including the value of family, the allure of the desert, local flora and fauna, and regional and global trade. The fifth shape, a shield, unites them all and symbolizes the power and cohesion that are important to Al Rayyan. Simply defined, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium is a location that spectacularly depicts the tale of Qatar.
What’s intriguing, though, is that the Ahmad Bin Ali stadium was built with several “Indian influences.” The 40000-seat stadium was to be built by a Qatari-Indian Joint Venture between Qatar’s Al Balagh Trading & Contracting and India’s largest construction company, Larsen & Toubro Limited, according to the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), the organization in charge of delivering the World Cup (L&T).
It’s significant to note that this is the first time ever that an Indian company has participated in any way at all in the construction of World Cup tournament infrastructure.
And even earlier, the location had received accolades for the work done by L&T after becoming the first project site to complete 20 million working hours on two separate occasions without a Lost Time Injury, marking a key health and safety milestone (LTI). An LTI is an injury that an employee sustains and that causes them to miss work or work more slowly.
Thanks to the many sustainability and efficiency measures that have been incorporated into the stadium’s design to reduce its carbon footprint, the stadium has received several excellent Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) ratings. It is thus one of the best locations for the FIFA World Cup 2022.
“L&T is incredibly honoured that the SC picked us, along with our partner Al Balagh, to carry out their vision for the World Cup in 2022. This is a significant accomplishment for the business.
