Brian Bennet (PC- ESPN)
In a record-shattering moment in the ENG vs ZIM Test match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, 21-year-old Brian Bennett marked his name in history by completing the quickest Test century for Zimbabwe when he reached the landmark in 97 deliveries. In an otherwise struggling innings of Zimbabwe, Bennett’s century shone like a beacon of excellence amidst a powerful display by England.
Batting first in the four-day Test, England amassed a record 565 runs. The top order performed as Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope all scored centuries, setting a daunting precedent for the visitors. The Trent Bridge pitch provided good batting conditions, and England fully capitalized.
Confronting a precarious situation following the premature dismissal of Ben Curran, opener Brian Bennett stood firm with great maturity at the crease. He went on to make a breathtaking 139 from 143 deliveries, hitting 26 boundaries and reaching his century in only 97, the quickest Test century scored by any Zimbabwean.

England Enforce Follow-On; Bennett Falls Early in Second Innings
With a large lead of 300 runs, England declared the follow-on. Zimbabwe could not withstand the English bowling assault, and their hero from the first innings, Brian Bennett, was dismissed for 1 run in the second innings, losing the chance for a reappearance as hero.
Although England were in firm control of the match, Brian Bennett’s hundred was one of the biggest highlights of the game. With his record-breaking innings, he was a source of pride and hope for Zimbabwean cricket fans. As the ENG vs ZIM Test continues, everyone’s focus will be on how Zimbabwe copes under pressure and whether another hero will emerge.
