England Squad Against Australia Series: The England cricket board has announced their squad for their upcoming T20 and ODI home series against Australia.
After an underwhelming performance in the recently held 50-over World Cup and the T20 World Cup, the English management have looked to refresh their squad and inject new talents into the set-up.
New Entrants In The England Squad Against Australia
Five uncapped players have received a call-up for England squad against Australia series in what is the first assignment of England’s interim coach Marcus Trescothick.
Batter Jordan Cox, all-rounders Jacob Bethell and Dan Mousley, and fast bowlers Josh Hull and John Turner, all stand a chance to make their debut in T20 International next month against Australia.
Hull, Bethell and Turner have also found a place in the ODI squad against arch-rivals Australia.
Fast-bowler Brydon Carse was selected after completing a three-month ban over betting offences.
Gradually recovering from injury, pacer Jofra Archer makes a return to the 50-over format for the first time since March 2023. He has found a spot in the T20 squad as well.
Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran have retained his T20 place but missed out on the 50-over games. Fast-bowler Saqib Mahmood returns to the ODI squad after recovering from fitness issues.
Harry Brook, Gus Atkinson, Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith and Matthew Potts are rested for T201s and would join the England squad against Australia for five-match ODI series.
Captaincy
Joss Butler will continue as white-ball captain of the England cricket team in their upcoming series against Australia. Vice-captain has not been declared in England squad against Australia series.
Missing Players From England Squad Against Australia
Wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow and spinner Moeen Ali have been dropped from the squad to create room for youngsters. All-rounder Chris Jordan has also been axed from the list.
Ben Stokes, Zak Crawley and Mark Wood are all out with injuries.
