Eoin Morgan has conceded that he may not be part of the England side in the 2023 50-over World Cup. However, Morgan is hopeful of leading England at the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Eoin Morgan is leading England at this year’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. England will take on defending champions West Indies in their tournament opener on Saturday in Dubai.
The limited-overs captain of the England national cricket team just turned 35 a month ago. After leading his IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders to an unexpected spot in the finals where they lost to Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings, Morgan has joined the English camp for the T20 World Cup.
Speaking of his career, Eoin Morgan said that he is not convinced that he will be part of the defending champions in the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup in India. England won the 2019 tournament at their home.
He said,
“I am not sure about another two (tournaments). Obviously, results determine how well you do and how often you are kept on. But certainly, my hunger and determination are as strong as ever.”
However, he is confident of leading the England side in the 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup to be held at Australia.
“I certainly see myself this time next year playing, hopefully, a really strong role in another T20 World Cup,”
Morgan told the BBC on Thursday.
The 35-year-old has played 246 ODI’s for the three lions and has scored over 7500 runs in the format. He has also scored 14 ODI centuries along with 47 half-centuries for England.
