Giorgi Mamardashvili vs Cristiano Ronaldo At Euro 2024
Ahead of the clash with Portugal, Georgia goal-keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili was determined that his team would pull all stops to make into the next round by handing a possible shock to the Cristiano Ronaldo-led team.
Georgia has a chance of making it to the round of 16 in Euro 2024, as group runners-up, if they beat Portugal.
“Three points would have been very important, but one point will do because we continue our fight and we will have a very difficult match against Portugal. They are one of the favorite teams to win the Euro. But we’ll play our game there. We will do our best and we will see”, Mamardashvili said at a pre-match press conference.

Georgia is still alive in the tournament. They can finish as group runners-up even after they lost their first match 3-1 against Turkeye.
“First of all, I am very satisfied and happy because we are here and we have taken our first point. This is a historic moment. Of course, we could have won at the last moment, I’m a little disappointed. But this is football, anything can happen.”
Portugal and Georgia have met only once before in a pre-Euro 2008 friendly match in which the Portuguese team with Ronaldo and Pepe won 2-0 in Viseu.
