The European Individual Chess Championship is ongoing, having started on 15 March, and will conclude on 26 March. The tournament was first held in 2000, and since then, it has been an annual event. The 2025 season is being played at the Hotel Europa in Eforie Nord, Romania. The tournament features an 11-round Swiss format with a time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the match with a 30-second increment starting from move on. 

The European Individual Chess Championship also serves as a qualifying event for the FIDE World Cup as the top 20 players earn a spot in the prestigious tournament. The event will see massive participation, with almost 400 players having registered in the current edition. So let’s take a look at the top seeds.
