On Friday, former Everton striker Wayne Rooney disclosed he turned down the prospect to speak with the Toffees concerning their managerial vacancy because he desires to remain as derby boss.
Rooney said: “Everton approached my agent and asked me to interview for the vacant job, that I turned down.
