F1 has officially extended the Mexico City Grand Prix’s place on the racing calendar through 2028. They announced a new three-year contract extension with the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit. This move secures the future of one of the sport’s most exciting and well-attended events.
The previous agreement for the Mexico City Grand Prix was set to expire after the 2025 season, leading to the end of such a vibrant and local favourite event. Nevertheless, the event’s popularity has earned it a strong backing from both federal and local governments.
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali On The News
The announcement was made ahead of the Miami Grand Prix with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali expressing his excitement, “Formula 1 is energy, passion and emotion, and every year the unique atmosphere created by our fans in Mexico City is one of the most incredible and energetic experiences of our championship.”
Mayor Claura Brugada also said, “The Grand Prix not only attracts motorsports fans, but also stimulates the local economy of this great city, strengthens the tourism infrastructure, and generates pride.”
