According to the group division, the Wales National Football team has been placed in ‘Group B’, alongside dominant competitors like England, USA, and IR Iran. The team is likely to compete against USA in their opening match in ‘Group B’, which will be taking place on 22 November 2022.

Team of Wales

The National Football team (Wales) is often referred to as “The Dragons” and is being controlled by the Football Association of Wales (FAW). According to reports, this will be the second time that the team has successfully qualified for the FIFA World Cup. Reportedly, they were qualified in the year of 1958, and right now at the FIFA World Cup of 2022. However, in 1958, they managed to reach the quarterfinals and later were defeated by the Brazil team. Moreover, the team is said to have risen up from 117th to a peak of 8th, as per the FIFA World Rankings between August (2011) –October (2015).

The team also managed to successfully qualify for UEFA Euro 2016, and as well as managed to reach the semi-final rounds. Later, another successive UEFA European Championship came forward for the team, when Wales successfully reached the round of 16 of UEFA Euro 2020. Based on past records, the Welsh team has mostly featured numerous players from Wales’ top club teams like Cardiff City and Swansea City.

Furthermore, as Wales is a country of the United Kingdom, therefore it is not a member of the International Olympic Committee. Hence, the team is not provided with the opportunity of competing in the Olympic Games.

The team’s strength mostly lies on their striking and fielding unit, as the players have genuine capacity to come up with a tough competition and setting a tough competition to its competitors. With the support and strong players in the team, they are expected to set an excellent example to others in their second FIFA World Cup.
