Griezmann’s move to Atletico Madrid has finally happened.
The move was rumored all summer.
The finances of the club being heavily crippled due to the Covid-19 and with debt amounts rising over a billion, Barcelona was trying to move out high earning players in the summer transfer window.
As the transfer window was closing down a move out of the club was looking unlikely for Griezmann, because of the high wages of the player and Barcelona’s transfer demands.
However, on the deadline day, the rumors started coming in, about a potential direct swap deal for Joao Felix and Antoine Griezmann.
But later Atletico Madrid clarified that Joao Felix will not be leaving the club at any cost this window.
Atletico Madrid are always on the same position for João Felix: they don’t want him to leave the club in the next hours. So clear. 🚫🇵🇹 #Atleti #DeadlineDay @mattemoretto

In the final hours of the transfer window, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid agreed on a deal for the return of Antoine Griezmann.
The deal in place will see Griezmann joining Atletico Madrid on loan from Barcelona with an obligation to buy, at the end of this season for a fee believed to be around 40 million euros.
The economical situation of the club looks like the motive behind the move.

Signed from Atletico Madrid for 120 million euros in the summer of 2019, Griezmann had a mixed career in Barcelona.
A cult hero at Atletico Madrid for five seasons, Griezmann joined the Catalan giants amid huge expectations.
But he never really settled in the team, being played in different positions and often not completing the whole 90 minutes.
A hard worker off the ball, Griezmann was struggling to have any impact on games and never really got on with the fans at the club.
The Frenchman appeared 102 times for the Blaugrana. He scored 35 goals and assisted 16 goals.
He played an important role in the club’s victory in the Copa del Rey, in his final season at the club.
Now back at Atletico Madrid, Griezmann has his nightmare time at Barcelona behind him.
