The first match of the Women’s Premier League 2025 (WPL 2025) will be played between the Gujarat Giants and defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. In WPL 2023, Gujarat Giants won by 11 runs while defending a score of 201/7 in their first match against the Smriti Mandhana-led team, while in the second match, Royal Challengers Bangalore chased the target of 189 runs with 27 balls to spare, losing only 2 wickets. In that match, Sophie Devine played a blistering innings of 99 runs off 36 balls for RCBW, which is also the highest innings played by any batsman in WPL history.
