Sevilla FC has successfully secured a loan deal with Manchester United for the acquisition of 20-year-old French-born Tunisian international midfielder, Hannibal Mejbr. The loan agreement is set to run until the end of the season, with an option for Sevilla FC to make the move permanent.

Hannibal Mejbr, who hails from Ivry-sur-Seine, began his football journey at Paris FC’s academy at the age of nine. His talent quickly caught the attention of top European clubs, leading him to join AS Monaco’s academy after a brief stint with AC Boulogne-Billancourt. At the age of 16, he made a significant move to Manchester United ahead of the 2019/20 season, showcasing his skills in both the under-18 and under-23 sides.

The breakthrough for Mejbr came in the following season, making 24 appearances in the Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy, with five goals and ten assists to his name. His stellar performances earned him a debut for the first team under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the final game of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 2021/22 season saw Mejbr on loan to Birmingham City in the Championship, where he played 41 games, contributing with one goal and six assists. Returning to Manchester United for the current season, he has made ten appearances, scoring once under the management of Erik ten Hag.

Internationally, Mejbr represented France at under-16 and under-17 levels before deciding to accept a call-up to the Tunisian national team, his parents’ native country, in 2021. He featured in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, where Tunisia finished as runners-up, and was also part of Tunisia’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, playing in the group stage against Denmark.

Hannibal Mejbr’s arrival adds valuable depth to Sevilla FC’s midfield, as the team navigates a challenging phase in the current La Liga season. Sevilla FC is positioned just above the relegation zone, with one win in their last five matches.
