“I will be more than happy”: Hardik is ready to lead Team India
“If I get an opportunity in the future, I’ll be more than happy to captain the Indian team”

Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya said ‘he will be more than happy if he becomes the full-time captain. Hardik led Gujarat Titans to a memorable title win in the 2022 IPL. The star all-rounder also led India in the final T20I against West Indies at Lauderhill, Florida on Sunday. India beat Windies by 88 runs to take the series 4-1.
“If I get an opportunity in future, I’ll be more than happy to captain the Indian team. But right now we have the World Cup. We also have the Asia Cup coming up,” said Hardik in the post-match presentation. “We’re going to focus on those tournaments. We want to make sure as a team what we’re doing, to continue with that. We want to ensure that all the skillsets, which we are learning, we can keep getting better at it. At the same point in time, we want to enjoy the game as well,” he added.
Earlier, regular skipper Rohit Sharma talked about the team having many options as captains. Rohit said it is fantastic that the side now has so many leaders within the group. Several experts are of the opinion that Hardik can be groomed as the next leader for Team India. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is 35 years old.
Hardik played crucial cameos with the bat in recent times. He also struck important blows with the ball in India’s series win against the Windies. He is expected to play a big role as a middle-order batter cum finisher and fourth seamer in the T20 set-up for team India.
