The IBSF World Championships 2025 is set to take place in Lake Placid in which new bobsleigh and skeleton champions will be crowned.
The iconic 20-curve Mt. Van Hoevenberg track will host a record 38 nations, represented by over 300 athletes at the 11th World Championships.
There will be a total of seven events: men’s and women’s skeleton, the skeleton mixed team relay, 2-man bobsleigh, and women’s monobob during the first weekend, followed by the 4-man and 2-woman bobsleigh events in the final weekend.
IBSF World Championships 2025: Athletes to Watch
Team Great Britain enter the competition as the favourites for the men’s skeleton competition, with overall World Cup winner Matt Weston looking to sign off from the season on a high note. He has finished on the podium at seven out of eight races this season.
Christopher Grotheer, defending world champion and Olympic gold medallist from Germany, will be aiming for his fourth world title in the event.
On the women’s side, Austria’s Janine Flock, the overall World Cup winner of the season, will be eyeing for the crown in Lake Placid.
In bobsleigh, Germany remain the favourites in the men’s competition. Francesco Friedrich, four-time Olympic champion, has already clinched eight world titles in the discipline since 2013. Fellow German Johannes Lochner, who has finished on the podium in all eight World Cup races this season, will be bidding for another triumph at the IBSF World Championships 2025.
