Afghan Stars Shine in ODI Rankings

In the ODI rankings, young Afghan star Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Australia’s Travis Head both climbed into the top 10 after scoring quick centuries in matches in the UAE and England. Gurbaz, who hit his seventh ODI century before turning 23, jumped 10 spots to eighth place with 692 points, making him the first Afghan batter to reach the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Ranking’s top 10.

Previously, Ibrahim Zadran was the highest-ranked Afghan player, sitting at 12th. Travis Head also moved up, rising seven spots to ninth with 684 points, thanks to his impressive score of 154 not out against England in their ODI series.

Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan also made news in the rankings, climbing eight spots to third place in the ODI Bowling Rankings with 668 points. He took seven wickets in Afghanistan’s two victories against South Africa in the UAE.

The performances of both Rashid and Rahmanullah were crucial in securing Afghanistan’s first-ever ODI series win against a top-five-ranked team.
