The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month awards for September 2025, and the list features some spectacular performers from both men’s and women’s cricket.

Abhishek Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, and Brian Bennett Shine in Men’s Category For Player Of The Month Awards

Young Indian opener Abhishek Sharma was in unstoppable form during the Asia Cup 2025. The left-hander piled up 314 runs in seven T20Is with three fifties, striking at a phenomenal rate of 200. His explosive batting at the top of the order played a massive role in helping India successfully defend their title.

Abhishek was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding display and also achieved the highest-ever batting rating in men’s T20I history with an incredible 931 points, confirming his rise as one of the most exciting talents in world cricket.

The second nominee is his teammate and India’s spin wizard Kuldeep Yadav. The left-arm wrist-spinner had an exceptional tournament, taking 17 wickets at an economy rate of 6.27, finishing as the leading wicket-taker of the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. Kuldeep’s brilliant spells of 4/7 against the UAE and 4/30 in the final against Pakistan were instrumental in India’s success and earned him a well-deserved nomination.

Completing the men’s list is Zimbabwe’s hard-hitting opener Brian Bennett, who had a stunning month with the bat. Bennett scored 497 runs in nine matches at an average of 55.22 and a strike rate of 165.66, dominating bowlers from Sri Lanka and Namibia alike.

His purple patch continued in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final, where he hammered scores of 72, 65, and 111 in his first three innings. Bennett’s consistency and attacking approach were key to Zimbabwe qualifying for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

Smriti Mandhana, Sidra Amin, and Tazmin Brits Battle for Women’s Player Of The Month Award

In the women’s category, Indian opener Smriti Mandhana, Pakistan’s Sidra Amin, and South Africa’s Tazmin Brits have been shortlisted for their incredible performances throughout September.

Smriti Mandhana enjoyed a brilliant ODI series against Australia Women at home, racking up 308 runs in four matches at an average of 77 and a strike rate of 135.68. Her scores of 58, 117, and 125 were crucial for India. After India lost the first ODI, Mandhana’s century in the second helped the team beat Australia in the format for the first time since 2007.

She followed it up with a breathtaking 50-ball century in the series decider, the fastest by an Indian woman and the second fastest in women’s ODI history, even though India narrowly lost the match.

Sidra Amin and Tazmin Brits Star in Pakistan-South Africa Series

Pakistan opener Sidra Amin was in superb touch during the ODI series against South Africa, scoring 293 runs in three matches at an extraordinary average of 293. She struck unbeaten knocks of 121 and 122 in the first two games, and her unbeaten 50 in the final ODI guided Pakistan to a comprehensive win over the Proteas.

South Africa’s Tazmin Brits completes the list of nominees with her remarkable performances in the same series. Brits smashed 272 runs in two innings at a strike rate of 103.81, including back-to-back unbeaten centuries of 101 and 171. Her brilliance with the bat was vital in South Africa’s 2-1 ODI series win against Pakistan.
