ICC Under-19 T20 World Cup: India Lifts The 2nd Consecutive Title
G Trisha Smashes Centuries as India Wins Second Consecutive ICC Under-19 T20 World Cup.

India had thoroughly dominated the ICC Under-19 T20 World Cup final as they comprehensively defeated South Africa by nine wickets for their second consecutive title. A stellar all-around show by G Trisha, inclusive of excellent spin bowling by the entire Indian bowling machine, took them in complete control to acquire the match and victory.
Spin Attack Paves the Way for India’s Victory

The Indian bowling unit, particularly their spinners, was at the forefront of tearing apart South Africa’s batting lineup. Ayushi Shukla, G Trisha, Vaishnavi Sharma, and Parunika Sisodia, all Indian spinners who had performed wonderfully throughout the tournament, continued their impressive performance in the final. The four women took nine wickets and allowed South Africa to score a lowly 82 runs.
South Africa’s batting problem started early in the game. When captain Kayla Reyneke chose to bat first, the South African openers, Gemma Botha and Simone Lawrence, were aggressive from the word go. Botha scored two fours off VJ Joshita’s opening over, but trouble began when the second overcame in when Sisodia dismissed Lawrence for a duck.
India’s bowlers quickly established dominance, but South Africa’s top scorer of the tournament, Botha, continued to demonstrate her class by hitting a boundary. India’s spinners maintained the pressure that was mounting with Shabnam Shakeel producing the breakthrough through a brilliant catch from Kamalini, who dismissed Botha in the fourth over.
Spinners remained on top of the game as India denied South Africa any chances to score well. Left-arm Shukla bowled out Diyara Ramlakan in the second ball of the over as she could score only three runs at the beginning of the following over. By the end of the powerplay, South Africa lost three wickets while scoring only 29 runs.
Middle Overs Tighten India’s Grip

India’s spinners kept a vice-like grip on South Africa during the middle overs, as not a single boundary was struck between overs seven and 14. The pressure told as South Africa lost two more wickets during this period. Trisha removed captain Reyneke for seven runs, and Shukla sent Karabo back to the pavilion.
South Africa’s highest run-scorer in the match, Mieke van Voorst, broke the dry spell by hitting the team’s first boundary off 56 balls. India responded quickly, as Trisha claimed two wickets in the 18th over, pushing South Africa to the brink once again.
The last overs of the match were seen with Faye Cowling hitting the only six of the match, but Vaishnavi Sharma immediately took back the control by getting Cowling and Monalisa Legodi out in the same over. Sisodia concluded the innings by getting Ashley van Wyk out on the last ball, ensuring South Africa was bowled out for 82 runs. The Indian bowling attack had decimated the South African batting lineup as they took five wickets in just 14 balls.
Trisha’s Unstoppable Batting Gives India the Win:

India chased the modest target with clinical swiftness. With three fours being scored off the very first five balls of G Trisha, things were already going in the right direction for India. In the fourth over, the leg-spinner Naidu was smashed for consecutive three-fours. Even after losing Kamalini in the 10th over, South Africa knew they couldn’t contain India’s momentum.
Trisha, on 38, was dropped in the covers in the 10th over, but it proved to be a minor setback as India needed just 15 runs to seal the win. Sanika Chalke joined Trisha at the crease and played a superb cover drive off her fourth ball, helping India reach more than half of their target in the powerplay.
Trisha batted sturdy in the middle and scored 309 runs to be crowned the tournament’s top run-getter, besides being named both the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament for her magnificent all-rounder performance. Chalke sealed the victory for India with a boundary in the 12th over as team members celebrated their consequent title win.
India Dominates on Global Turf

It was a remarkable victory for India as they have now won the ICC Under-19 T20 World Cup 2025 back to back. The team’s overall performance, especially the contributions from their spinners and G Trisha’s all-around brilliance, speaks of the depth and talent within the Indian women’s cricketing ranks. With a new generation of stars emerging, India’s future in women’s cricket looks incredibly bright.
