Women’s T20 World Cup 2026: The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Thursday, May 1st, that the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will be held in England. The final match will take place at the famous Lord’s Cricket Ground.

England to Host ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026

The tournament will start on June 12th and will feature 12 teams playing a total of 33 matches. Along with Lord’s, six other venues across England will host the games.

The ICC has announced the venues for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be held in England. Along with Lord’s hosting the final, matches will also be played at Old Trafford, Headingley, Edgbaston, The Oval, Hampshire Bowl, and the Bristol County Ground.

Venues Announced For Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Across Iconic English Grounds

The tournament will follow the usual format, with 12 teams split into two groups, followed by knockout matches. The full schedule will be revealed soon. So far, eight teams – Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and the West Indies – have already qualified. The remaining four teams will be decided through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2025.

After the announcement of venues for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, ICC Chairman Jay Shah shared his thoughts. He praised the support for women’s cricket in the UK and said Lord’s is the perfect place for the final. He said:

“The United Kingdom’s rich diversity has always shown passionate support for all teams. The sell-out Women’s Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s in 2017 remains a landmark in the rise of the women’s game, and I cannot think of a more fitting stage for the final.”

He also looked ahead to ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 and its global impact:

“As we turn our focus to preparing for the tournament, we are excited by the promise of thrilling T20 action that will not only captivate fans here but also serve as a showcase for cricket’s return on the Olympic stage in Los Angeles 2028.”

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Chief Executive Richard Gould also spoke about the event. He said they are very excited and proud to host the tournament. He added:

“We are hugely excited for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 and thrilled to be able to confirm the seven iconic venues that will host the tournament.”

“It is, of course, extra special to announce that the final will be taking place at Lord’s. It is one of the finest venues in world cricket and every cricketer dreams of being part of occasions like a World Cup final at Lord’s.”
