IND vs AUS: Axar Patel and Shivam Dube Shine as India Beat Australia by 48 Runs: India put up a fantastic all-round performance to beat Australia by 48 runs in the fourth T20 International, taking an unbeatable 2-1 lead in the five-match series on Thursday. Despite posting a modest total, India’s bowlers stepped up brilliantly to defend it, with Axar Patel and Shivam Dube playing key roles by taking two wickets each.

Washington Sundar added the finishing touches with three late strikes as India comfortably bowled out Australia for 119 in 18.2 overs while chasing 168. At one stage, the hosts were 91 for 3, but a sudden collapse sealed India’s win.

The fifth and final T20 will be played in Brisbane on November 8. The first match of the series was washed out in Canberra.

IND vs AUS: Australia Falter After Strong Start

Openers Matthew Short (30 off 24) and Mitchell Marsh (25 off 19) gave Australia a good start, but things quickly turned around once Axar dismissed Short in the powerplay. Dube then made a major impact, removing Marsh and Tim David (14 off 9) in back-to-back overs. His wicket of Marsh came off just his second ball, and he followed it up with a sharp short delivery to get rid of David.

Arshdeep Singh also joined the party with a wicket in the middle overs before Varun Chakaravarthy cleaned up Glenn Maxwell on the last ball of his spell to all but end Australia’s hopes.

IND vs AUS: India’s Batting Effort A Mixed Bag

Earlier, India had a decent but far from perfect outing with the bat, finishing at 167 for eight. After a wicketless power play, they couldn’t quite build the momentum they needed.

Abhishek Sharma (28 off 21) and Shubman Gill (46 off 39) got India off to a steady start with a 56-run stand. However, once that partnership was broken, wickets fell at regular intervals.

Promoted to number three, Shivam Dube (22 off 18) couldn’t convert his start into a big one, while skipper Suryakumar Yadav (20 off 10) looked dangerous for a brief moment before getting out after two sixes.

IND vs AUS: Ellis and Zampa Strike for Australia

Pacer Nathan Ellis (3/21 in 4 overs) was the standout performer for Australia, using his clever variations to good effect. Adam Zampa was expensive, conceding 45 runs in his four overs, but he still managed to pick up three key wickets, including that of Abhishek Sharma.

Abhishek had earlier smashed Zampa for a maximum down the ground but was caught trying to repeat the shot just two balls later. He could have been dismissed on the second ball of the innings itself, but Xavier Bartlett dropped a straightforward chance off Ben Dwarshuis.

Gill, meanwhile, fought hard for his runs, showing glimpses of his timing with a huge six over cow corner off Marcus Stoinis before falling to a slower one from Ellis.

IND vs AUS: Late Flourish and Brilliant Defense

As the innings lost steam, Axar Patel (21 not out off 11) played a handy cameo to take India past 160. Despite losing four wickets for just 42 runs in the final five overs, India’s bowlers ensured that the total was more than enough.

Their disciplined effort, backed by smart bowling changes and sharp fielding, helped India seal the match and the series in style.
