India Beat Australia by 48 Runs in Gold Coast: The fourth T20I of the five-match series between Suryakumar Yadav’s India and Mitchell Marsh’s Australia was played on Thursday, November 6, at the Gold Coast Stadium in Carrara. Team India produced another strong performance to defeat Australia by 48 runs, taking a 2-1 lead in the series. The final match will be played in Brisbane on Saturday, November 8.
India Experiment with a Flexible Batting Order
Under Gautam Gambhir’s guidance, the Indian team management has made it clear that apart from the openers, no batting position in the T20I lineup is fixed. Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill have been locked in as the opening pair, but the rest of the order continues to rotate as the coaches want players to be flexible and adaptable.
This approach, however, didn’t quite click in the fourth T20I, as India managed to post only 167 for 8. Abhishek Sharma (28), Shubman Gill (46), and Shivam Dube (22), who was promoted to number three, all got starts but couldn’t accelerate.
Suryakumar Yadav (20) and Axar Patel (21 not out) played brisk cameos, while Washington Sundar’s handy 12 helped India finish with a respectable total.
“Credit to All the Batters, Especially Abhishek and Shubman”
India’s bowlers once again rose to the occasion, with Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel all picking up at least one wicket. Australia were bowled out for 119 in 18.2 overs as India sealed a comfortable victory.
Speaking after the match, captain Suryakumar Yadav praised the openers for setting up the win with their steady start. He said:
“Credit to all the batters, especially Abhishek and Shubman. The way they started in the powerplay was smart, they realized early it wasn’t a typical wicket for 200+. Everyone chipped in, and it was a complete team effort with the bat.”
“Me and Gauti Bhai Were on the Same Page” – Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar also appreciated his bowlers for their adaptability and flexibility, saying that clear communication from the team management played a key role in their success.
“The messages were clear from outside as well, me and Gauti bhai were on the same page. The bowlers adapted quickly, especially with a bit of dew coming in. The way they bowled was fantastic. It’s great to have bowlers who can give you two or three overs, and on some days even four,” he said.
He further added, “It depends on the situation, some days Washington bowls four, some days Shivam or Arshdeep might bowl less. This flexibility suits us. Everyone’s ready to step up and do what the team needs.”
With one game left in the series, India will look to carry their winning momentum to Brisbane and close out the series in style.
